The infamous Birmingham shows prior to Editors' incredible Rock Werchter 2012 performance will always be known by fans as the start of Editors chapter 2. But as well as being the first Editors gigs for Justin and Elliott, this was also my first gig EVER, and a night I will never forget. If you can imagine the excitement of a 14-year-old going to her first gig, which also happens to be her favourite band, you can understand why I spent the drive down to Birmingham unable to sit still and boring my Dad by listing which songs I'd hope Editors would play. And oh my, did they deliver. I spent the whole night grinning ear-to-ear, not quite believing that my favourite band were performing right in front of me, and that I was amongst the first to hear a bunch of new songs - one of which was Sugar. It was the first song on the setlist, and the fuzzy guitars and Tom's brooding lyrics immediately stood out. I remember watching, listening, and thinking that I wanted to spend the rest of my life going to gigs, experiencing live music, and of course seeing Editors whenever I got the chance. Seven years later and I'm happy to say I'm doing exactly that, and Sugar will always remind me of my introduction to live music.
