Black Gold is Editors' 1st ever greatest hits album...except if you're a hardcore fan, it isn't. In 2011 Editors released a box set called Unedited, a selection of recordings and rarities acting as an overview of their musical output to that point. To me, this was their greatest hits way before Black Gold. What nobody knew when they bought it, was it was also the last release with Chris Urbanowicz's input. It acted as a summary of Editors' progress across 3 albums, but also as a celebration of his creativity. Beautifully jagged guitar lines, the way he played the notes and the dynamic between him and Tom as songwriters was a privilege to hear. He's missed, always affectionately. Post Unedited, Editors changed. New personnel, new label and a decision to go forward on their own terms. For the 2nd line up, Black Gold arrives at a similar time to Unedited; 3 studio albums in and acting as its own compendium of their recent history. Whatever's next, it's been an amazing journey. Thank you.
The Black Gold Archives

Welcome to the Black Gold Archives. Explore the timeline as it chronicles sixteen tracks that make up the Black Gold greatest hits record and discover stories from each song. Videos, photos and memories written by the band and people who lived through every era of Editors. And, most importantly, add your own memory to the archives and let the whole world share in it. Every memory that is shared will be added to the archive. A photo of a tiny, sweaty gig in the early 2000s… A grainy video taken from your old camera phone thrust in the air while you lived out your favourite festival moment… Or maybe words. A story, a moment, a memory.

Explore the Black Gold Archive at your leisure and share in the moments that crafted Editors. And don’t forget to leave something to show the world that you were part of the journey too.
