First performance of Frankenstein
From : Nick Willes (Victories At Sea/stand-in Editors member)
The first time I heard Frankenstein was on a tour bus somewhere across France in April this year with everyone in Editors grinning at me in anticipation as to what I thought.. I could already imagine Tom gliding across the stage and the green fireworks exploding over fields of people that summer. It was huge. And effortless. And still is on every listen.  Editors songs are always tried, tested and much loved by thousands by the time I ever get to play them, so it was a new experience to help it on its way to its first live outing this summer and interpret it from record to stage. I don’t think there was ever any doubt but there’s certainly a feeling you get playing a new song live for the first time and I felt that too. It’s exciting and it’s easy. There was a running theme all summer when we got off stage that this song seemed to have hit the spot with however many people just watched it. How do you follow a song of Frankenstein’s magnitude though? You can’t. You have to close the show with it. And to be fair, it did go off. Like a boss.
The Black Gold Archives

Welcome to the Black Gold Archives. Explore the timeline as it chronicles sixteen tracks that make up the Black Gold greatest hits record and discover stories from each song. Videos, photos and memories written by the band and people who lived through every era of Editors. And, most importantly, add your own memory to the archives and let the whole world share in it. Every memory that is shared will be added to the archive. A photo of a tiny, sweaty gig in the early 2000s… A grainy video taken from your old camera phone thrust in the air while you lived out your favourite festival moment… Or maybe words. A story, a moment, a memory.

Explore the Black Gold Archive at your leisure and share in the moments that crafted Editors. And don’t forget to leave something to show the world that you were part of the journey too.
