Munich (Truck acoustic sessions)
From : Lemming
Munich was my first time hearing the group courtesy of some Radio 1 airplay, and led to my first Editors gig in Newcastle on the 2nd March 2006. They were originally booked to play The Cluny on Lime Street which held about 300 people. Such was the accelerated interest around them they ended up moving to the show to the O2 Academy, which held 2,000. I went hoping to be entertained, 13 years later I run a fansite devoted to spreading the word. Hooks in and heart won. For years we wondered what Munich was about. Maybe the German city, and were the people there really as fragile as Tom would have you believe? Or did the title reference a cat called Munich that lived at the home of the band's management, and used to urinate on everything in its territory while members of the group slept on the floor there in the early days? As it turned out, the lyrics were written by a hungover Mr Smith and the fragility more than likely describes himself.
The Black Gold Archives

Welcome to the Black Gold Archives. Explore the timeline as it chronicles sixteen tracks that make up the Black Gold greatest hits record and discover stories from each song. Videos, photos and memories written by the band and people who lived through every era of Editors. And, most importantly, add your own memory to the archives and let the whole world share in it. Every memory that is shared will be added to the archive. A photo of a tiny, sweaty gig in the early 2000s… A grainy video taken from your old camera phone thrust in the air while you lived out your favourite festival moment… Or maybe words. A story, a moment, a memory.

Explore the Black Gold Archive at your leisure and share in the moments that crafted Editors. And don’t forget to leave something to show the world that you were part of the journey too.
