You Cant Stop Us From Singin’
From : Gary Paterson
While there is a lot of songs that get the crowd singing, nothing does it more uniformly and for a sustained period than Smokers does. Lost count of the gigs where the crowd were a constant and loud accompaniment throughout. With its epic breakdown and strobing lights, this song soars to the highest reaches of every venue it is played at. As Tom is kindly pointing out in this picture I took at their 2013 gig at Barrowland, Glasgow. A venue which has hosted many legendry EDITORS gigs over the years as far back as 2006, when standing lamps and candelabras were used as stage dressings. I have heard many fans citing last year’s show there (2018) as one of the best they have been to. It was the night after the band had to cancelled their Aberdeen gig but to voice issues with Tom. It was a special one. The place was electric and the crowd in full voice. Needless to say, Smokers was very loud that night.
