Those songs of valour
From : Léa
During the european tour in 2018, I was involved in the student strike in France. I was doing a hitchiking tour of the country, visiting the occupied universities, meeting different activist groups, and learned that Editors was giving a concert at the Transbordeur in Lyon - know that you're my favorite band since your beginnigs. I was in the north and hitchiked towards this city, slept at the university with the fighting students, made a lot of friends amongst them and participated to antifacist actions during the afternoon just before the live, for the anecdote. Some friends, from different part of France, who didn't really knew Editors joined me this day, and saw one of the best live of their lives (I quote). When I heard Marching Orders for the second time of my life, it was played on stage, and the lyrics gripped me: it talked to us, we're some of those who decided to defy the marching orders and the laws because we believe they're so wrong; we're full of doubts about the future, our ways of fighting, but we're trying to give as much as we can. Maybe we completely misinterpreted the song, but nevermind, isn't it ? It became universal at the moment anyone felt it was kind of written for her/him, and that's why this music is so powerful. This night, the political activists we were - and still are - felt kind of heard, definitly not alone and maybe even supported by this famous band, musicians we admire. For those feelings, and all those songs that make me feel not so alone with the anger against this foul world, thank you.
